Coffee Flan
I love eating custards and it’s nice to know that combining coffee with flan makes for a very delightful dessert. Now coffee lovers can enjoy their caffeine fix with sweets loaded with their favorite beverage.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup fresh milk
- 1 tsp instant coffee
- 1 pc egg
- 3 pcs egg yolk
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- a pinch of salt
- 200g of chocolate shaved for garnish
Procedure:
- Preheat oven to 3000F.
- Brush custard cups with butter the set aside.
- In a small saucepan, combine cream, milk, coffee. Let it boil and simmer over medium heat. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk together egg, egg yolk, sugar, vanilla extract and salt. Add a little of the hot milk into the egg mixture. Mix well. Add the remaining milk mixture and mix well. Strain mixture into a strainer.
- Pour it into custard cups. Place custard cups in roasting pan. Fill pan with warm water until ¾ of the sides of cups. Bake for 30 minutes. Cool for about 20 minutes after baking. Loosen custards with knife. Invert onto serving dish and top with shaved chocolate then refrigerate.
