Baraco Coffee | Kapeng Barako | Liberica
This exotic and rare coffee is know for its strong taste and is native to Batangas, a province in the Philippines where it’s also called Liberica - a type of coffee which originated in Liberia, West Africa. Coffee lovers will particularly love the powerful aroma. This coffee is sold through out in the Philippines but is cheapest when bought in Batangas. Trendy local coffee shops like Figaro, Gourmet’s Coffee and Monk’s Blend are serving Barako in their menus. Despite being native to the Philippines, the Barako almost became extinct in 2000 if not for the tree planting efforts undertaken by the Figaro Coffee Company which has generated support from both public and private sector to help save and revitalize the Philippine coffee industry.
