Figaro Coffee

figaro-coffee-shop.jpg Figaro is a wholly locally established coffee shop that was formed in 1993 by a group of seven friends whose loved for coffee made Figaro what it is today. Aside from their great coffee and pastry products, the thing I like most about them is their concern and support for the local coffee industry by helping local farmers through their Figaro foundation. Figaro coffee shops are one of the best well known coffee shops in the Philippines rivaled only by Starbucks.

One my very first encounters with Figaro was on a TGIF night, my friend and I drove around Timog in Quezon City looking for a place to chill out and we happen upon a Figaro coffee shop and we decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Figaro is a locally owned, judging by their store and products being offered, I can’t help but imagine this must be imported from another country.

Local specialty coffee shops are now rivaling their foreign counterparts and Figaro is currently the best know local brand. I predict that this industry will continue to grow because Filipinos can’t seem to get enough of coffee and there’s a big enough market for new players to come in. But Figaro has a special place in my heart die to their concern for our local coffee industry.
